Salutation to Prakriti, the primal nature, and to Bhadra, the kind one; with minds restrained we bow to her. Salutation to Raudri the fierce, to the eternal one, to Gauri, to Dhatri the sustainer — salutation again and again. Salutation always to her who is moonlight, who has the form of the moon, who is joy itself. We bow again and again to Kalyani, the auspicious one, who is growth and fulfilment for those who bow to her. Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu (Aparajita Stuti) Significance
The hymn the gods sing to the Devi in chapter 5 of the Devi Mahatmyam (Durga Saptashati), when Shumbha and Nishumbha have taken their realms; it is also known as the Aparajita Stuti and, recited on its own, as the Tantrokta Devi Suktam. Its best-known stanzas salute the Goddess who dwells "in all beings" as consciousness, intellect, sleep, hunger, power, forbearance, faith, compassion, mother and more, each ending "namas tasyai namas tasyai namas tasyai namo namah". This item gives verses 5.9–5.82 in the Gita Press numbering: each "ya devi" stanza counts as three mantras of the seven hundred and is printed as one verse with its three numbers inline, as in the Gita Press edition. It is widely recited during Navaratri and in daily worship of the Devi.
