Significance

Shanti Path (Dyauh Shanti) Significance

The best-known Vedic peace chant, from the Shukla Yajurveda (Vajasaneyi Samhita 36.17). It prays for peace in the sky, the middle air and the earth, in the waters, healing plants and trees, in all the gods and in Brahman, in everything, and finally in the one who prays. It is chanted at the close of pujas, havans and the Rudrabhishekam (it is part of the Shukla Yajurveda Rudrashtadhyayi). It is given here without Vedic accents, with the customary 'Om' before it and the threefold 'shanti' after it.
