Significance
Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah Significance
A short prayer for the welfare of all beings, widely recited at the close of prayers, classes and gatherings, followed by the threefold 'shanti'. Its exact origin is uncertain: it is often described as an Upanishadic shanti mantra, but it has not been traced to the Upanishads. Its second line also occurs in the Bhavishya Purana (Pratisarga Parva 3.2.35.14 in the Wikisource text), and similar wishes for all beings appear in other Sanskrit texts.
