(The Pushkaravarta is the legendary rain-cloud whose single shower keeps the earth fertile for years.)

Sakal Kushal Valli Significance
A single Sanskrit verse in praise of Shantinatha, the sixteenth Tirthankara, which Shvetambara Murtipujak Jains recite with folded hands just before beginning a chaityavandan; monks also use it as an auspicious opening before a discourse. It likens the Lord to the Pushkaravarta rain-cloud that nourishes the creeper of all well-being, to the sun that dispels the darkness of sin, to the wish-fulfilling tree and to a ship across the ocean of worldly existence. Many families add "shreyase parshvanathah" at the end, offering the same prayer to Parshvanatha.
