English Meaning
Verse 1: O Lord of the Universe, ruler of the gods, supreme among all, source of purity and father of creation! I, with my weakened intellect and diminished strength, bow to you. Please save the suffering souls who are weighed down by their troubles. Verse 2: I am devoid of virtue, impoverished, with a mind clouded and unsteady. You, the savior and the most generous giver, are my only hope. Free me from the influence of darkness and ignorance, which have overpowered my thoughts. Verse 3: My life is like a fish stranded in the harsh desert of this world, helpless and yearning for relief. O ocean of compassion, with your eyes full of mercy, lift me from this suffering. Verse 4: I am caught in the cycle of birth and karma, sinking in the turbulent ocean of worldly existence. O Shiva, please extend your compassion and provide me with a quick vessel to cross this sea of sorrows. Verse 5: Destroy my sins, O Lord, and replace my burdens with virtue and righteousness. My life is stained and devoid of any merit, but I am at your mercy. Lift me from the depths of my unworthy existence. Verse 6: You, who creates and destroys, the liberator from worldly pains, the one who conquers sin! O Shankara, please dispel the effects of my wrong actions and free me from the weight of my past deeds. Verse 7: I am parched and yearning for the nectar of wisdom, O Achyuta, embodiment of consciousness and supreme generosity. Please grant me this divine gift, for I have lost my way in the darkness of ignorance. Verse 8: I bow, I bow, and I bow again to you, the one who destroys the causes of worldly birth and suffering. I am without virtue, limitless in my faults, yet I surrender myself to your refuge.
