Narayana Stotram Significance
A litany in which each line joins two epithets of Vishnu, drawn from the lives of Krishna and Rama, and ends with 'Narayana', sung to the refrain 'Narayana Narayana jaya Govinda Hare, Narayana Narayana jaya Gopala Hare'. It is traditionally attributed to Adi Shankaracharya; its last line names 'Shankara, best of the Bharati ascetics', and sanskritdocuments notes that it could not confirm this is Adi Shankara. The refrain is printed once at the head, as in most sources; in singing it is usually repeated after every line or two.
