Namami Shamishan English Meaning

I bow to the Lord, the ruler of all, the form of liberation, who is all-pervading, the very embodiment of the Vedas. He is self-existent, devoid of qualities, without change, without desire, the consciousness that fills space, I worship Him who dwells in space. Formless, the root of Omkara, beyond the three states, beyond speech and knowledge, I bow to the Lord of the Mountains, the formidable one. The destroyer of time, the kind one, the treasure of all qualities, I bow to Him who takes us across the ocean of worldly existence. His form is as white as a mountain of snow, profound, with a body that shines with the brilliance of millions of Cupids. He has a flowing Ganga adorning his head, a crescent moon on his forehead, and snakes around His neck. With moving earrings, beautiful eyebrows and wide eyes, with a cheerful countenance, with a blue throat, compassionate. Wearing the hide of a tiger, with a garland of skulls, I worship the beloved Shankara, the Lord of all. Fierce, excellent, courageous, the Supreme Lord, unbroken, unborn, with the light of millions of suns. He who uproots the three kinds of pain, holding a trident, I worship Bhavani's Lord, attainable through devotion. He is beyond time, auspicious, the ender of cosmic cycles, the giver of eternal joy to the virtuous, the destroyer of Tripura. The embodiment of pure bliss, remover of delusion, be pleased, be pleased, O Lord, the destroyer of Cupid. Until they worship the lotus feet of Uma's Lord, whether in this world or the next, men shall not attain happiness, peace, or the end of suffering. Be pleased, O Lord, who dwells in all beings. I do not know yoga, chanting, or worship, I bow to you always, O Shambhu. Suffering from old age, birth, and floods of sorrow, O Lord, protect me, I have taken refuge in you, O Lord Shambhu. This Rudrashtakam was spoken by a Brahmin for the pleasure of Hara (Shiva). Those who recite this with devotion, upon them Shambhu is pleased.
