Meaning
Krishnashtakam English Meaning
I bow to Krishna, teacher of the world: the divine son of Vasudeva, who crushed Kamsa and Chanura, the supreme joy of Devaki. I bow to Krishna, teacher of the world, blue like the flax flower, adorned with necklace and anklets, wearing jewelled bracelets and armlets. I bow to Krishna, teacher of the world, with curling locks of hair and a face like the full moon, wearing shining earrings. I bow to Krishna, teacher of the world, fragrant with mandara flowers, with a lovely smile and four arms, his crest adorned with a peacock feather. I bow to Krishna, teacher of the world, whose eyes are like the petals of a full-blown lotus, who is dark like a blue rain-cloud, the crest-jewel of the Yadavas. I bow to Krishna, teacher of the world, who delights in play with Rukmini, resplendent in yellow silk, fragrant with tulasi. I bow to Krishna, teacher of the world, whose chest bears the kumkum of the gopis' embrace, the abode of Lakshmi, the mighty archer. I bow to Krishna, teacher of the world, the broad-chested one marked with the Shrivatsa, radiant with a garland of forest flowers, the divine bearer of conch and discus. Whoever rises at dawn and recites this sacred Krishnashtakam: the sin of ten million lifetimes is destroyed by remembering it.
