शिव उवाच । देवि त्वं भक्तसुलभे सर्वकार्यविधायिनी । कलौ हि कार्यसिद्ध्यर्थमुपायं ब्रूहि यत्नतः ॥ देव्युवाच । शृणु देव प्रवक्ष्यामि कलौ सर्वेष्टसाधनम् । मया तवैव स्नेहेनाप्यम्बास्तुतिः प्रकाश्यते ॥ ॐ अस्य श्रीदुर्गासप्तश्लोकीस्तोत्रमन्त्रस्य नारायण ऋषिः, अनुष्टुप् छन्दः, श्रीमहाकालीमहालक्ष्मीमहासरस्वत्यो देवताः, श्रीदुर्गाप्रीत्यर्थं सप्तश्लोकीदुर्गापाठे विनियोगः ॥ ज्ञानिनामपि चेतांसि देवी भगवती हि सा । बलादाकृष्य मोहाय महामाया प्रयच्छति ॥१॥ दुर्गे स्मृता हरसि भीतिमशेषजन्तोः स्वस्थैः स्मृता मतिमतीव शुभां ददासि । दारिद्र्यदुःखभयहारिणि का त्वदन्या सर्वोपकारकरणाय सदार्द्रचित्ता ॥२॥ सर्वमङ्गलमाङ्गल्ये शिवे सर्वार्थसाधिके । शरण्ये त्र्यम्बके गौरि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥३॥ शरणागतदीनार्तपरित्राणपरायणे । सर्वस्यार्तिहरे देवि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥४॥ सर्वस्वरूपे सर्वेशे सर्वशक्तिसमन्विते । भयेभ्यस्त्राहि नो देवि दुर्गे देवि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥५॥ रोगानशेषानपहंसि तुष्टा रुष्टा तु कामान् सकलानभीष्टान् । त्वामाश्रितानां न विपन्नराणां त्वामाश्रिता ह्याश्रयतां प्रयान्ति ॥६॥ सर्वाबाधाप्रशमनं त्रैलोक्यस्याखिलेश्वरि । एवमेव त्वया कार्यमस्मद्वैरिविनाशनम् ॥७॥

Meaning
Durga Saptashloki English Meaning
Shiva said: O Devi, you are easily reached by your devotees and you bring every task to completion. Tell me, with care, the means of success in one's undertakings in the Kali age. The Devi said: Listen, O Lord, I will tell you the means of gaining every wish in the Kali age. Out of my love for you alone, I now reveal this hymn to the Mother. Om. Of this Durga Saptashloki hymn, the seer is Narayana, the metre Anushtubh, and the deities Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasarasvati. It is recited as the Saptashloki Durga, for the pleasure of Shri Durga. That Blessed Devi, Mahamaya, forcibly draws away even the minds of the wise and casts them into delusion. O Durga, when remembered in fear you take away the fear of every creature; when remembered by those at ease you grant a mind exceedingly pure. Remover of poverty, pain and fear, who but you has a heart ever tender with the wish to help all? O auspiciousness of all that is auspicious, gracious Shiva, who fulfils every aim, giver of refuge, three-eyed Gauri, Narayani — salutation to you. Ever intent on saving the humble and the suffering who come to you for refuge, O Devi who takes away the pain of all, Narayani, salutation to you. You who are the form of all, the ruler of all, endowed with every power: protect us from all fears, O Devi. Devi Durga, salutation to you. When pleased, you destroy every disease; when displeased, you take away every cherished desire. Those who take refuge in you meet no calamity; those who take refuge in you become a refuge for others. O Queen of all, in just this way calm every affliction of the three worlds and destroy our enemies.

Durga Saptashloki Hindi Meaning
शिवजी बोले — हे देवि! तुम भक्तों के लिए सुलभ हो और सब कार्यों को पूर्ण करने वाली हो। कलियुग में कार्यों की सिद्धि का उपाय यत्नपूर्वक बताओ। देवी बोलीं — हे देव! सुनिए, कलियुग में सब मनोरथ सिद्ध करने वाला साधन मैं बताती हूँ। तुम्हारे प्रति स्नेह के कारण ही मैं यह 'अम्बा-स्तुति' प्रकट कर रही हूँ। इस श्रीदुर्गासप्तश्लोकी स्तोत्र-मन्त्र के ऋषि नारायण हैं, छन्द अनुष्टुप् है और देवता महाकाली, महालक्ष्मी तथा महासरस्वती हैं। श्रीदुर्गा की प्रसन्नता के लिए सप्तश्लोकी दुर्गा के पाठ में इसका विनियोग है। वे भगवती महामाया देवी ज्ञानियों के चित्त को भी बलपूर्वक खींचकर मोह में डाल देती हैं। हे दुर्गे! भय के समय स्मरण करने पर तुम सब प्राणियों का भय हर लेती हो, और सुख में स्मरण करने वालों को अत्यन्त शुभ बुद्धि देती हो। दरिद्रता, दुःख और भय हरने वाली देवि! तुम्हारे सिवा दूसरी कौन है, जिसका हृदय सबका उपकार करने के लिए सदा दया से भरा रहता हो? हे सब मंगलों की भी मंगलरूपा, कल्याणमयी शिवे, सब पुरुषार्थों को सिद्ध करने वाली, शरण देने वाली, त्रिनेत्रा गौरी नारायणि! तुम्हें नमस्कार है। शरण में आए दीनों और पीड़ितों की रक्षा में सदा तत्पर, सबकी पीड़ा हरने वाली नारायणी देवि! तुम्हें नमस्कार है। हे सर्वस्वरूपा, सर्वेश्वरी, सब शक्तियों से सम्पन्न देवि! भयों से हमारी रक्षा करो। हे दुर्गा देवि! तुम्हें नमस्कार है। हे देवि! प्रसन्न होने पर तुम सब रोगों को नष्ट कर देती हो और रुष्ट होने पर सब मनचाही कामनाओं को नष्ट कर देती हो। जो तुम्हारी शरण में हैं, उन पर विपत्ति नहीं आती; तुम्हारी शरण में गए लोग दूसरों को भी शरण देने वाले हो जाते हैं। हे सर्वेश्वरि! इसी प्रकार तुम तीनों लोकों की सब बाधाओं को शान्त करो और हमारे शत्रुओं का नाश करो।

Durga Saptashloki Significance
The Durga Saptashloki gathers seven verses of the Devi Mahatmyam (1.56, 4.17, 11.10, 11.12, 11.24, 11.29 and 11.39 in the Gita Press numbering) into a short hymn. It opens with a dialogue in which Shiva asks the Devi for an easy means of success in the Kali age and she reveals this "hymn to the Mother", followed by its viniyoga; both are included here as unnumbered entries, as in the Gita Press, sanskritdocuments and Stotranidhi texts. It is often recited daily, or when there is no time for the full Saptashati.
