Durga Dvatrimshat Namamala Significance
A garland of thirty-two names of Durga, each built on the word durga ("hard to cross", a fortress, hardship), closed by a line on the fruit of reciting it. It is printed as an appendix to the Gita Press Durga Saptashati; the sanskritdocuments edition places it in the Tripura Rahasya (Mahatmya Khanda, ch. 46) with an introduction by the gods and a longer phalashruti, which are not part of the Gita Press text and are left out here. It is traditionally recited in times of difficulty and during Navaratri.
