Meaning
Annattha Sutra English Meaning
Except for breathing in, breathing out, coughing, sneezing, yawning, belching, passing wind, giddiness and fainting from bile; slight movements of the limbs, slight movements of phlegm and saliva, slight movements of the eyes — with these and similar exceptions, may my kayotsarga remain unbroken and unblemished. Until I complete it with the salutation to the Arihanta Bhagavants (by saying "namo arihantanam"), until then I give up my body — holding it still in one posture, in silence and in meditation — and let go of all attachment to it.

Significance
Annattha Sutra Significance
Annattha (the Agara or Kayotsarga Sutra) is the vow taken at the start of every kayotsarga. It lists the involuntary acts — breathing, coughing, sneezing, yawning, slight movements of the body and eyes, and the like — that do not break the meditation, and fixes its end: body still, silent and absorbed until the practitioner completes it by saying "namo arihantanam". In Samayik and Pratikraman it follows Tassa Uttari, after which the kayotsarga is held, usually for one Logassa up to "chandesu nimmalayara" or four Navkars; Sthanakvasi books recite the same text.
