॥ २ ॥ हे जगदम्बे, मेरी माँ, कदम्ब वन में रहने वाली, हँसी में मगन रहने वाली, पहाड़ों के सिर का मुकुट, ऊँचे हिमालय के शिखर पर बने अपने घर के बीच रहने वाली, मधु सी मीठी, मधु और कैटभ को हराने वाली, कैटभ को तोड़ने वाली, रास में रमने वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ ३ ॥ हे सौ टुकड़ों में टूटे, धड़ से अलग हुए, सूंड कटे हुए हाथियों के स्वामी को हराने वाली, दुश्मन के हाथी के गाल चीरने में प्रचंड, सिंह के समान पराक्रमी सूंड वाली, अपनी भुजाओं के दंड से गिराए गए योद्धाओं के झुंड और कटे हुए सिरों वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ ४ ॥ हे युद्ध में मदमस्त शत्रुओं को मारने के लिए उठी, अजेय और अमर शक्ति धारण करने वाली, चतुर विचारों में सबसे आगे, महाशिव को दूत बनाने वाली, प्रमथों की स्वामिनी, बुरे कर्म, बुरी इच्छा, बुरे विचार और दुष्ट बुद्धि वाले दानव दूतों के लिए यमराज जैसी, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ ५ ॥ हे शरण में आए दुश्मन योद्धाओं की पत्नियों को वीर पति का वरदान देने वाली, अभयदान देने वाली, तीनों लोकों के माथे के त्रिशूल का विरोध करने वाले, सिर पर सजे निर्मल त्रिशूल को धारण करने वाली, दुमि-दुमि की आवाज़ से अमर देवताओं की दुंदुभी के नाद से दिशाओं को गुंजाने वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ ६ ॥ हे अपनी हुंकार मात्र से धूम्रलोचन और सौ धूम्र राक्षसों को भगाने वाली, युद्ध में सूखे हुए खून के बीज से पैदा हुए असंख्य खून के बीज रूपी राक्षसों की लता वाली, शिव-शिव! शुम्भ-निशुम्भ के महायुद्ध में भूत-पिशाचों को तृप्त करने में रमने वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ ७ ॥ धनुष पर बाण चढ़ाकर, युद्ध के क्षण में, चमकते अंगों और नाचते हुए कंगन के साथ, सुनहरे-भूरे रंग के तीरों से भरे तरकश और गरजते योद्धाओं के समूह को मारने वाली, चतुरंगिणी सेना से युद्धभूमि को भरने वाली, अनेक रंगों से सजे योद्धाओं के साथ गरजने वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ ८ ॥ देवताओं की स्त्रियाँ "ततथेयी, ततथेयी" अभिनय करती हुई सुंदर नृत्य में मग्न, "कुकुथः, कुकुथो" और ताल-लय के साथ कौतूहल भरे गानों में मग्न, धुधुकुट, धुक्कुट, धिंधिमित की ध्वनि से गंभीर मृदंग की आवाज़ में मग्न, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ ९ ॥ जय हो, जय हो, जपने योग्य, विजय शब्द वाली, श्रेष्ठ स्तुति में लीन, विश्व द्वारा वंदित, झन-झन-झिञ्झिमि, झिङ्कृत नूपुरों की झंकार से भूतनाथ (शिव) को भी मोहित करने वाली, नाचती हुई, आधी नटी, नटी और नट नायक के द्वारा नाचे गए नाट्य के मधुर गान में रमने वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ १० ॥ फूलों से भी सुंदर, मन को मोह लेने वाली कांति से युक्त, रात को आश्रय देने वाली, रात, रात, रात, रात, रात, चंद्रमा जैसे मुख से घिरी हुई, सुंदर आँखों के भ्रमर, भ्रमर, भ्रमर, भ्रमर, भ्रमरों के स्वामी, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ ११ ॥ महान युद्धों में मल्लों की नायिका, कुश्ती और कलाबाजी में रमने वाली, लताओं, पल्लवों, चमेली की मालाओं और झिल्ली, भिल्ली फूलों के समूह से घिरी हुई, ताज़ी खिली, पूरी तरह से विकसित, लाल-सुनहरी, कोमल नए पत्तों की तरह सुंदर, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ १२ ॥ लगातार बहते मद से सराबोर, मतवाले हाथियों के झुंड की स्वामिनी, तीनों लोकों का आभूषण, भूत कलाओं का खजाना, रूप के सागर की राजपुत्री, सुंदर दांतों वाली स्त्रियों के लालायित मन को मोहित करने वाली, कामदेव राजा की बेटी, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ १३ ॥ कमल की पंखुड़ियों के समान निर्मल और कोमल कांति वाली, कला से सजी निर्मल भाल वाली, सभी विलास कलाओं का घर, धीरे-धीरे चलने वाली हंसों की पंक्ति की तरह क्रीड़ा करने वाली, भौंरों के झुंड से घिरे नीले कमलों के मंडल के मुकुट पर विराजमान बकुल की माला वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ १४ ॥ हाथ में मुरली की ध्वनि से कोयल की कूक को भी लज्जित करने वाली मधुर वाणी वाली, मिले हुए पुलिंदों की मनोहर गूंज से सजे पर्वतीय कुंजों में रहने वाली, अपने गणों के रूप में महान शबरी सेना के सद्गुणों से भरी क्रीड़ा स्थली वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ १५ ॥ कमर पर पीले रेशमी वस्त्रों की अनोखी चमक से चंद्रमा की कांति को भी मात देने वाली, झुके हुए देवताओं और असुरों के मुकुटों के मणियों से चमकते नखों की चंद्रमा जैसी आभा वाली, जीते हुए सोने के पर्वत मेरु के शिखर के मद से भरे, हाथियों के कुंभ जैसे स्तनों वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ १६ ॥ हजारों हाथों से जीती हुई, लाखों हाथों से वंदित, देवताओं को तारने वाली, युद्ध में तारने वाली, तारक के पुत्र (कार्तिकेय) की बेटी, सुरथ, समाधि और समान समाधि जैसी समाधियों में आनंद लेने वाली, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ १७ ॥ जो प्रतिदिन करुणा की खान, हे कल्याणमयी, तुम्हारे चरण कमलों की पूजा करता है, हे कमले, कमल में रहने वाली, कमल में निवास करने वाला, वह लक्ष्मी का घर क्यों नहीं होगा? तुम्हारे चरण ही परम पद हैं, ऐसा विचार करने वाले मुझे क्या शुभ प्राप्त नहीं होगा, हे शिवे? महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ १८ ॥ जो सोने के चमकते कलशों से पवित्र नदी के जल से तुम्हारे गुणों की रंगभूमि को सींचता है, क्या वह शची (इन्द्राणी) के कुंभ जैसे स्तनों को आलिंगन करने के सुख का अनुभव नहीं करेगा? मैं तुम्हारे चरणों की शरण लेता हूँ, हे झुके हुए अमर वाणी में निवास करने वाली कल्याणी! महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ १९ ॥ तुम्हारा निर्मल चंद्रमा का कुल, मुख चंद्रमा के समूह को सच में शीतल करता है, क्या इंद्रपुरी की चंद्रमा मुखी सुंदर स्त्रियों से वह विमुख होती है? मेरा तो मत है कि शिव नाम रूपी धन में, आपकी कृपा से क्या नहीं होता? महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी! ॥ २० ॥ हे उमा, मुझ दीन पर दयालु होकर, अपनी कृपा से ही तुम मुझ पर कृपालु होना, हे जगत जननी, तुम कृपालु हो, जैसी हो वैसी ही जानी जाती हो, जो यहाँ उचित हो, उसे स्वीकार करो और मेरे महान दुखों को दूर करो, महिषासुर मर्दिनी माता, तेरी जय हो, जय हो, सुंदर जटा वाली, पहाड़ों की बेटी!
